Analytics

We use Google Analytics to track anonymous user-data to improve our website and the services we offer.

Who we share your data with

No one. Ever. Unless in the case where you specifically have asked your data to be shared with a specific agency or contact we may have to connect you to.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service that runs through our site anonymously to ensure we are bot-free

Your contact information

As with any other data we collect, your contact information (name, email, phone, address, etc) is kept private to our organization and the intended use of that information. For example:

  • if you post your home address on the Girl unKnown Network Activity page, obviously that will be shared with anyone who has access to the network
  • however if you’ve submitted a form to become a volunteer that data is only review by the Girl unKnown Leadership Team, Staff or Interns.

How we protect your data

We protect our network with an SSL certificate and strong password requirements. In addition, only members of our premium network and direct employees of Girl unKnown have login access to our site and there is both a paywall and also a human-to-human verification process we take with each potential member to ensure only verified users gain access to the Girl unKnown (GU) Network.

What data breach procedures we have in place

In the unlikely event of a data breach, every affected user will be notified and password resets will be sent automatically to ensure

What third parties we receive data from

None.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

Only separation by intention of submission and intended use of data. For example, we keep the volunteer registration info and the funding applications info separately by programmatically storing those two different types of data in separate database tables for organizational purposes and ease of use/review for our staff.
