Why Mentorship Matters with Girl, unKnown Inc. – Mentorship is a relationship garnered on mutual trust between two people where one is seeking to gain knowledge and understanding from the other, but learning can occur both ways. Having a mentor/mentee relationship is a great way for the people involved to gain insight, support, business and career guidance and a gain much needed communication skills.
Girl, unKnown Inc. Mentoring Experience Journey:
Everyone who becomes a member of GU, joins as part of the Breakthrough Mentoring Program. Through this program two more tracks from our Seven Pillars of Empowerment are chosen by the member.
Everyone has a total of three tracks, with our Mentorship Pillar welcoming every Member.
Members are then invited to events and classes with others in the same tracks, offering opportunities to meet each other and organically choose their mentor and mentee. Suggestions, received in-app within two weeks of joining, can help the selection process along.
Our differentiating factor is that a member doesn’t age-out of the GU Family. We grow with individuals and are there to provide support and encouragement throughout the entire life cycle. This creates mentor chains. One chain can have 30 individuals and keeps growing with each new member added, starting in middle school. This balances the age groups and knowledge gaps as one can continuously feed information and knowledge up and down their mentorship chain.
